Imagine the moon

The moon I photographed tonight rising over the Franklin Mountains and the city of El Paso is amazingly the same moon that my father saw when he was growing up in Western New York.   It is the same moon that his father saw when he was growing up on the island of Sicily and the same moon that lighted up the night sky when the dinosaurs roamed the earth 65 million years ago.   Imagine all the people, all the civilizations, all the moments in time when the moon shined brightly over the past 4 billion years after being created out of the debris from a giant collision between earth and what some say was a Mars-sized body called Theia.

Imagine the moon.
